Working with an IT company based in Belarus has some very solid advantages.

Geography

Belarus is a country in the very heart of Europe that is a definite plus in working with customers in both West Europe and Americas. Geographically, we are close enough, and this means easier negotiations and data exchange, which in turn helps reduce time to complete a project, and, quite importantly, makes the development team's work perfectly transparent.

National culture

Unlike eastern nations, Belarus thinks business similar to the way West Europeans or Americans do. This surely places Belarus developers in a better position to understand what their customers really want, and this helps meet their needs in the best possible way.

Qualification

Belarus has an outright advantage over other countries in opportunities it offers in getting IT qualifications, with a public education system that used to be highly praised at the time when the USSR still existed with Belarus accounting for about half of all computers produced in the Soviet Union. It is back at that time the country's public education system put much of the focus on exact and applied sciences. At present, Belarus is not only in possession of perhaps the best education system in the CIS, but is making some serious progress through reforms. This is why higher education institutions in the country produce a great number of highly skilled specialists every year, who, by the time of their graduation, have been able to gain international recognition through international math or IT contests, or complex business projects which require a good deal of creativity, innovativeness and IT skills.

Government support to IT businesses

At the present time, Belarus government is very interested in growing IT exports, and to aid this, some radical measures have been taken recently to create a favorable climate for IT businesses in the country. In 2001, the President of the Republic of Belarus issued a decree to found the Infopark Science and Technology Association aimed at supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic development of companies it has as its members. Further, a large-scale export-oriented High Technology Park project, nicknamed Belarus Silicon Valley, was launched in 2005, with some tangible outcomes seen already now.

Pricing

It leaves no doubt that Belarus IT companies offer very reasonable and competitive prices. Strong skills and extensive experience cooperating with companies in other countries have allowed Belarus businesses to achieve a high level in rendering the whole range of IT services. In this respect, Belarus companies' technical level is about as high as that of West European or American ones, while prices they offer are much more attractive. However, this does not seem to apply to all players on the Belarus IT market.
